Reservations are assigned based on availability. We cannot guaranty that you will be in a room on the floor of your preference. If you need a room on the first floor for mobility/ accessibility issues, please consider booking our Accessible King room. This room is located on the first floor.
There are no elevators on the property. The second floor is exclusively accessible by one flight of stairs.
Check in is 4pm or later. Check out is 10am or earlier.

Yes! We understand that travel doesn’t always go as planned. You will receive detailed check-in instructions before check-in so you have the flexibility to go straight to your room, no matter what time you arrive into New Orleans.
The property is fully gated and secured with a passcode. There are two gates on Tulane Avenue: A pedestrian gate and a car gate. You will receive a passcode prior to arrival that will open the gate and let you into the property.

Each room is accessible via exterior corridors. Each room has clearly marked room numbers on the door. Just walk up to the door, unlock it and you’re in! Rooms 1-9 are on the first floor. Rooms 10 -20 are on the second floor. There are two sets of stairs (one on each side of the motel) to the second floor.
No. Unfortunately there is no elevator on the property. The second floor rooms (rooms 10-20) are only accessible via stairs. Guests are expected to carry all of their own luggage and belongings. If you have mobility concerns, please consider booking the Accessible King Room, Room 1. This room is on the first floor and comes with a dedicated parking spot.
The pool hours are 8am – 10pm. There is no lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk. Glass is not allowed on the pool deck.
No! Guests with a room reservation do not need to book an additional pool pass. They can use the pool as much as they’d like between 8am – 10pm during their reservation. Pool passes are only for day guests who do not have a room reservation. Pool passes are limited based on hotel occupancy.
During pool season, The Iris will distribute wristbands to motel guests upon check-in. This allows us to know who is a motel guest and who is a day-pass holder. Please wear your wristband while at the pool. Staff may ask you to show your wristbands to ensure all pool guests are either motel guests or day-pass holders.
Quiet hours are 10pm – 8am. Please be respectful of other guests and limit TV noise, and loud conversations in the corridors, pool deck or parking lot.
We have 19 rooms and 14 parking spots in the gated parking area so not every room has a parking spot. Parking is dedicated to each room type. Please be sure to select the correct room when booking for your parking needs. Each room that has parking included has 1 dedicated spot. Street parking is available for overflow cars.
14 out of the 19 guest rooms have a dedicated parking spot. Only guests booking reservations with parking included can park in the gated lot. You can “swap out” cars during your trip to park in your dedicated parking spot, however only one car can be in the lot at the same time. Street parking is available for overflow cars.
Each parking spot has a reserved sign corresponding with the room number. Please only park in your reserved spot and make sure you park in a way that is courteous to other guests. The Iris reserves the right to tow any car that is parked in the wrong spot.
We do not have a dedicated business center on site. Each room features a laptop-friendly desk with chair and free wifi.
We do not have a dedicated gym. We can recommend near-by gyms with day passes, running paths, etc.
The pools is approximately 12ft x 28 ft. The depth varies from about 1 ft on the tanning ledge to approximately 5 ft at the deepest. Pool depths will vary slightly based on bather load and water capacity.

Pool/ Daily Pool Pass Question
The pool is open daily from 8am - 9pm for day pool pass holders and 8am - 10pm for motel guests.
Yes! We have a small bathroom available for your use.
Yes! The Iris Motel pool is "BYO." Guests are allowed to bring food, snacks and beverages for personal consumption. Alcohol is allowed for guests over 21 years old.
We do not sell any food or beverages on site but you are allowed to bring your own food and beverages in! Guests drinking alcohol must be at least 21 years old and all food and beverages must be for personal consumption.
Glass is not allowed in the pool or on the pool deck for the safety of everyone. Food or beverages being enjoyed by guests must be in a non-glass container.
Motel guests that can use the pool are capped at the room's occupancy. Up to two guests who book a room with a king are allowed to use the pool. Up to four guests who book a room with two queen beds are allowed to use the pool.
Additional people above the room's capacity can use the pool by purchasing a day pass.
Guests can play music at a personal volume. Please be respectful of other groups. Iris staff reserves the right to ask guests - both motel and day pass holders- to lower the volume, refrain from inappropriate music, or stop playing music at their discretion.
The Iris Motel is a family-friendly pool. We do not allow "top optional" sunbathing or swimming. All guests must be wearing appropriate swim attire.
Yes! Children who are accompanied with an adult can enjoy our pool. Discounted pool passes are available for children.

You can buy pool passes at http://www.irismotelnola.com or walk up to the gate and scan the QR code on the fence. We do not accept cash and all day passes will need to be paid for prior to receiving access to the buidling.
After you purchase a pool pass, you'll receive an email with detailed instructions. Go to the office to check in, be prepared to show your ID, sign a waiver and get your towel and wristband. Our staff will direct you to the pool and the bathroom.
No, all of our parking in the gated lot is reserved for our overnight motel guests. Ample street parking is available on Tulane Ave, and the surrounding side streets.
Yes, Pool passes are limited based on motel occupancy.
Smoking in the pool is not allowed. however smoking on the pool deck is allowed. Ash trays are available for your use.
Pool chairs are "first come, first serve" and not reservable.

Reservation Question
We offer three types of rooms: a standard king room (1 king bed), a double queen (2 queen beds) and an accessible king ( 1 king room with roll-in shower and other room modifications for mobility). When booking, please select the room type you’d like and if you need parking. Not all rooms have dedicated parking in the gated parking lot.
None of our rooms are adjourning or connect through interior doors. If you are traveling with another reservation, please let us know and we may be able to accomodate you by putting your rooms next to each other, if availability allows.
Yes! Every room is equipt with a mini fridge and coffee maker. We also stock coffee, disposable coffee cups, water cups, and coffee condiments.
No, We do not offer daily housekeeping.
We can refresh towels and bed linens with a minimum of 24 hour notice.
The Iris features Sterns and Fosters mattresses!
The Iris has hypoallergenic down-alternative pillows and duvet inserts.
All rooms are non-smoking. A $250 fine for smoking in the room will be charged to any reservation that has smoked in the room.
